A clinical routine without network-compatible medical devices can no longer be achieved in German hospitals, and attacks against sensitive medical systems endanger the life and limb of patients and hospital staff in the worst case scenario. In recent years, several critical vulnerabilities in networked medical devices and systems have been discovered. Furthermore, hospitals in NRW have recently been attacked by computer viruses, which shows that the security of networked medical systems can be improved. The research tandem MediSec carries out structured security analysis of medical systems and researches methods and tools for creating safe medical systems. Increasing the IT security level of medical systems increases the actual physical safety of patients.
